Golf Putting Stance is the Key to Better Putting

Putting is what kills us on the golf course. Around 50% of our strokes comes from putts. Even though it plays such a major part in our game, professionals tend to move away from it because they make more money by promising you a perfect swing. The most important part in putting, is the stance and then the stroke. The stance is most important because i guarantees your stroke is along the right swing path, you are misaligned even an inch off, it guarantees you an extra stroke.
There are only a few simple things that go into the golf putting stance:
1. Alignment
2. Ball Position
3. Eyes being hovering over the ball.
Firstly:We Need to Have Correct Alignment
This is a very simple thing to achieve, if you practice it and commit to it.
We want to be aligned parallel left of our target. Now to practice this on the putting green i use a rod like a sign post one. Something that is straight and easy to carry around. Also white chalk line.
Now on the practice green, find a putt that is flat and with very little break. Put a tee in the ground about 6 feet from the hole where the ground is flat and no break, then use the chalk line to draw a line from the tee to the hole. Now is the crucial part, you need align the rod parallel to the chalk line, and this is how you will be aligned.
Note: Instead of raking balls and practice putting from there; every time you putt a new ball, step off and step back into that position so that you build muscle memory and on the course you can just go up and do it automatically.
Secondly: We Want a Good Golf Ball Position
Some people say that we should have the ball from center to the front of our stance. I disagree, I say we should always have the ball in front of our stance (nearer to our left foot if you are a right handed golfer) Here is why.
If you putt the ball just inside your left foot, when you putt the ball it will be on the upward swing (you will still hit the ball solidly) which causes it to have forward roll, which is what we want. However, if we putt the ball in the center you can strike the ball on the down stroke which will cause the ball to bounce and kinda skid because it has back spin.
Thirdly: We Want Our Eyes to be Over the Ball
We want this so that we can properly align our putter with the line on our ball. If our eyes are not over the ball it gives us a false angle, like when it looks like you hit a beautiful shot 1 inch from the pin, but in reality you hit a good shot 10 feet from the pin. If we do this on the putt, it guarantees us a stroke.
To find out if you are looking over the ball, have one ball on the ground, and hold another one in your hand, and put it on the edge of your nose and drop it. If it hits the ball on the ground you are good, if not readjust yourself, so that you do.
